oebel Design Group brought the lively spirit of Tucson’s Sonoran heritage to life in the JW Marketplace at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. Designed as a vibrant grab-and-go food destination, the marketplace offers hotel guests and day visitors a casual, welcoming option that captures the flavor and energy of a traditional Mexican mercado.

The concept draws inspiration from the region’s rich cultural artistry—colorful Papel Picado banners, bold Lotería cards, and the textures of handmade craftsmanship. GDG designed custom wallcoverings, playful posters, and illuminated signage that celebrate this visual language while maintaining the refined polish expected of a JW Marriott property. The result is a space that feels joyful, authentic, and distinctly Tucson, balancing resort luxury with local soul.

Layered color, texture, and light create an experience that delights the senses—inviting guests to linger, explore, and enjoy a true taste of the desert Southwest.
