Hacienda at the Canyon – Tucson, AZ
F
ramed by the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, The Hacienda at the Canyon brings resort-style living to the Sonoran Desert. Goebel Design Group led the full interior design and implementation for all restaurants, amenity spaces, and common areas in this new senior living community—creating a cohesive environment that celebrates both luxury and authenticity.
Every element was designed to reflect the desert’s natural palette while supporting the property’s focus on wellness, hospitality, and connection. Restaurants and cafés feature layered textures, warm lighting, and subtle regional references, blending sophistication with approachability. Public lounges, studios, and gathering spaces emphasize fluid transitions between indoors and out, capturing Tucson’s signature light and openness.
From concept through installation, GDG delivered a unified design vision that feels both stately and grounded—transforming The Hacienda at the Canyon into a destination where residents and guests can truly live well in the desert.
The Acacia Dining Room
The Acacia Dining Room serves as the community’s primary restaurant, balancing classic formality with natural warmth. High ceilings and expansive desert views establish a grand sense of arrival, while a refined material palette—stone, wood, and woven textiles—anchors the space in its regional setting. Layered lighting and comfortable seating invite leisurely meals that feel both elegant and unpretentious.
The Mesquite Café
Designed for casual dining and daily connection, The Mesquite Café pairs an airy, sunlit atmosphere with tactile materials and playful details. Textured wood surfaces and mixed seating arrangements encourage residents to gather for coffee, light bites, or conversation. The design captures the easy rhythm of Tucson life—bright, comfortable, and authentically local.
The Canyon Lounge
Evenings come alive in The Canyon Lounge, a sophisticated social hub inspired by the hues of desert twilight. Rich leathers, burnished metals, and subtle lighting create an intimate mood, perfect for wine tastings or small gatherings. The design bridges rustic comfort with modern polish, offering a relaxed yet elevated experience.
The Courtyard Terrace
Blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living, the Courtyard Terrace embraces Tucson’s natural light and warmth. Comfortable lounge groupings, sculptural planters, and soft ambient lighting make the terrace an inviting extension of the restaurants and community spaces—ideal for dining, live music, or quiet reflection beneath the desert sky.
